Starter for 10
In order to keep blog mungers happy..... heres a few interesting nuggets to wet your appetite.
A LIST OF GOOD THINGS!
1>Elbow: The Seldom Seen Kid.
This British indie band,who have been criminally overlooked since their debut album, Asleep at the Back, finally gained the recognition they deserved when they won the mercury music prize in 2007, for this awesome album.
2>Nil By Mouth (1995) Gary Oldman
British Independant cinema has never been so powerful or bleak!
3>Tom Waits: Franks Wild Years.
Released in the early 80's during Tom Waits' transitional faze, from bar room crooner, to artistic visionary, this album is the highlight of a group of 3. Standout tracks include I'll Be Gone and Innocent When You Dream.
4> Suzuki Thunder!
Cheaper than a Tiger and just as sexy!
5> Bromo.
If you've not been there, then what have you been doing with yourself? Go there by bike, and drive in through Tumpang, up the mountains, down a goat trail and accross the sea of sand!
6>The Fly (1986) David Cronenberg
Not the 50's original, but the Cronenburg remake. Jeff Goldblum is on fine form, even under a ton of make up.
7> Michael Nyman
The best Britsh composer since sliced bread!
8> Big Bird!!!!
He's big. He's a bird and he's yellow. Whats not to like?
9> BBC World News.
Its got cool sound effects, like beeps and a wonderfully haunting woosh sound!
10> Apple Pie.
A prince among pastries!
And now for some things which should go back from whence they came, so that they may longer inflict harm on helpless people.
1> High School Musical 3.
Terrible music, terrible acting! If this is the state of kids cinema, then I'm glad im not 10!
2> American Idol and TV Commercials.
Seriously, can they not go 5 minutes without an ad break, and its the same ad's over and over again!!!!!!
3> 'Hello Mister!!!!'
If you're Indonesian.... then shame on you. If you're not, then you share my pain!
